interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes
Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes are numeric barcodes used in packaging, inventory, and shipping. Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF) barcodes can only encode numbers, not letters.
Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes don’t use a check digit because they are said to be self-checking. That is, because both the bars and the spaces encode information, not just the bars, any printing error or scan error will result in a misread. As a result, Interleaved 2 of 5 symbols are compact. Remember: half the information is encoded in the spaces as well as the bars. Nothing’s wasted.
When you wander through your local 24 hour grocery store, undoubtedly you’ll see boxes stacked in the aisles at 2 a.m. Those boxes will probably have Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes on them, many in a 1/4" border or at least bars above and below the barcode. And how do I know all this? I own Azalea Software and we sell I2of5Tools among other things. Truth is, I’m a barcode nerd. Proud of it too.
Barcodes? Barcodes! Do I know barcodes.
