the original Jimi Hendrix gravestoneThis photo was taken years ago at Jimi Hendrix’s original grave site. Seattle native Jimi Hendrix was buried in a family plot in the Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton WA outside of Seattle. This is a picture of my three boys when they were much younger (they’re now 18, 21, & 24) wearing leather jackets their mom got them in NYC.

Imagine my surprise when I returned several years later and found that the burial site had been transformed into an edifice. The simple marker was replaced by a huge (tacky) whoop-de-do. A bona fide tourist attraction. Sad really. I liked the nondescript grave site better.
